Heres what to think about if you are considering having a mobile device application developed (we are going to ask you) -

• Have you checked to see if there is an App. like what you are thinking about already in the app. store ?
• If there is already an App. like that. Thats OK - you just have to differentiate your offering against that.
• Have you thought about why people would download the app. Whats the hook ?
• Think about how it will look, down to the buttons and the interface and graphics. Think detailed.
• Have you thought about whether your App. should be developed for Blackberry, Android, Windows or Apple or any combination of these platforms ?
• Think about your target market. Local / International ? Low earning / high earnings ?
• Have you thought about how to make money with this App ? Willl you sell it ? Will you get advertising revenue from the app. store ?
• Will you have a free version and a paid version ? Whats the difference between the two ?
• What kind of other mediums will you use for marketing ? Twitter, Facebook, Traditional advertising ?
• Does your application integrate with a back office system ?
• What sort of time frame do you want the app. developed in ?
• Would you download / use your app. yourself ?
• Do you have the money to develop the app. ? Simple apps are about R30k. Prices can go right up to R300k or more. Think about your funding.
